No map where you can see enemies, no overview of the number of bullets you have or what scope you have active at that moment. What you will immediately notice is the lack of a HUD. Shooting that gunship is not an option in this game. If the enemy launches a mortar attack or suddenly a gunship circles overhead, it’s quick to take cover. In co-op you quickly notice that you have to unlearn your old CoD mannerisms very quickly. And in my view, the game is mainly about the 8-player co-op mode in which you go into an area together to take in or blow up a number of important points. You have a Local game, a co-op version and a versus mode. The modes that the game has are not many. Once you’re down, you’ll have to wait until the next checkpoint. A targeted headshot drops the enemy like a bag of sand. And that also applies the other way around. No, here’s two or three bullets enough to take you out. No twenty bullets damage after which you slowly recover which means that a few hits are no problem. You notice the latter especially in the quick death you die when you are hit. The game is really aimed at communicating, collaborative shooter fans who approach the game as very realistic. Even worse, it has no story and really only a limited single-player mode. Insurgency: Sandstorm is not a game for players who expect a beautiful single-player campaign full of cutscenes and a story. It had been out on PC for a while so it was a joy that we could finally get started with this shooter on our Xbox. So time for a good replacement I think.Īnd hallelujah, this week Insurgency: Sandstorm hit the consoles. Unfortunately, R6 has strayed more and more from the tactical shooter path over the years and now it pays to go run-and-gun. Rainbow Six used to be one of those shooters where the CoD players basically went down first. The funny thing is that when you see those kinds of players appear in a tactical shooter, they are unmistakably recognizable. You know them, the Call of Duty’s of this world. Until then, because does Insurgency: Sandstorm somewhat meet my requirements?īy tactical shooter I mean those shooters where you can’t run around blind and are only concerned with scoring as many kills as possible. Unfortunately, we don’t see much of that on Xbox.
